Looking for a bass player for my original shoegaze / dream pop band that I am bringing back from hiatus, so I am seeking a bassist with good gear and a strong sense of melody; backing vocals are a big plus. We’re playing in the space between shoegaze and dream pop, influenced by The Radio Dept., Slowdive, and The Cure (and The National, too, but that's another story). There's already an album from some years back and a full set of new songs. I would love to tighten things up and get on stage. Goal is to be play a show by September.
Look, AI is taking over everything. There are even people making money from music they have created using AI. At some point, the only way to tell if you are listening to real musicians will be because they're playing in front of you, and that should be us—we should be out there playing live.
More than just holding down the root notes, I need someone who understands how bass can elevate a song—someone who can both play pre-written songs as well as write new, tasteful, melodic lines, lock in with the drums, and add texture, movement, and atmosphere when the song calls for it.
You should:
• Have solid gear and a reliable setup
• Be comfortable playing already written lines as well as creating your own bass parts and contributing ideas
• Appreciate dynamics, tone, and space
• Be committed to rehearsals, writing, recording, and playing shows
• Backing vocals, harmonies are a big plus
We're looking for someone who understands that the right bass line can completely transform a track. Oh, and one last requirement—if you lean towards the "conservative" side of politics, no offense, but I will politely say we would probably not not be able to work well.
If interested, tell me a little about yourself, links to any recordings or videos, and your musical influences.
