Tidy Gardens is a small, professional organic gardening business based in Braintree, MA. We provide high-quality garden care for residential clients across the South Shore using human-powered, ecological methods — no chemicals, no loud machinery, and no rushed, careless work.
Our services focus on detailed weeding, fine pruning, deadheading, vegetable gardens, and seasonal flowerpot arrangements. We value craftsmanship, calm work environments, and taking pride in doing things right.
We are currently hiring for the 2026 growing season and are seeking reliable, hard-working individuals to join our gardening team.
Our Mission
Tidy Gardens is committed to providing exceptional gardening services through organic, ecological, human-powered gardening methods to ultimately reduce the soil, water, air, and noise pollution that is routinely practiced in conventional landscaping.
The Role
We are hiring hard-working, self-motivated individuals to join our team for the 2025 growing season.
This is a hands-on, outdoor role ideal for someone who enjoys physical work, working independently, and being rewarded for efficiency and quality.
What You’ll Be Doing
Hand-weeding and maintaining garden beds
Deadheading and general plant care
Fine pruning of shrubs and small trees
Planting and maintaining seasonal flowerpots
Using and caring for hand tools
Observing plant health, documenting issues and implementing
Working at residential properties across the South Shore
Pay-for-Performance Compensation
Tidy Gardens uses a pay-for-performance (P4P) model designed to reward efficiency, skill, and reliability — not just time on the clock. This role is a good fit for people who like to see their effort directly reflected in their pay.
All team members earn a guaranteed base hourly rate
Work is tracked against clear task benchmarks
Efficient, accurate work earns a larger share of the job’s labor value
Strong performers regularly earn above their base hourly rate
Increased earning potential is tied to skill, speed, quality, and consistency — not tenure
Strong performers commonly earn the equivalent of ~$25–$30+/hour, with higher earnings on well-executed jobs.

If you prefer slow-paced work, constant supervision, or doing the bare minimum, this role is not a good fit.
Experience & Skills
We welcome applicants with varying levels of experience. Prior professional gardening experience is a plus — but work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn are just as important.
Ideal candidates may have:
Gardening or landscaping experience (professional or personal)
Interest in plants, gardening, or ecological land care
Ability (or motivation to learn) to distinguish weeds from desirable plants
Basic pruning knowledge (or eagerness to be trained)
Comfort using hand tools and working independently
You must:
Be dependable and punctual
Be comfortable with physical outdoor work in various weather conditions
Have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Be open to feedback and committed to improving your skills
Schedule & Season
Seasonal position (spring through fall)
Full-time and part-time opportunities available
Monday–Friday schedule with early morning starts
Opportunity to return in future seasons for strong performers
