Inspired by the furniture from Villa Kerylos in Cap Ferrat which itself was designed by Emmanuel Pontremoli and executed by cabinetmaker Louis-François Bettenfeld, in 1906, which themselves were inspired by paintings on ancient Greek vases.
Revived famously in the 20th century by T. H. Robsjohn-Gibbings and Saradis of Athens.
