Would you like to assist immigrants in learning English with a focus on life skills?

JVS Boston is seeking a qualified ESOL instructor for a class in Rockland, MA. (South Shore) starting in February 2019!

Position Summary: The goal of this class is to help people gain skills in talking with their doctor and accessing healthcare, along with other life skills. This class will be offered through a local church in partnership with South Shore Hospital.

Under the direction of their Manager, the Instructor:
Develops and modifies contextualized curriculum and daily lesson plans for academic and/or job skill training programs, delivers training to participants, evaluates progress and skill attainment of individual participants on a scheduled basis, tracks outcomes, creates documents for submission to their Manager, funders or evaluators, and attends strategic team meetings both in the Business Services department as well as agency wide meetings.

Class Schedule: Monday and Thursday evenings, from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. This contract will run until November 2019.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
BS/BA in Education or related field, TESOL Certificate and/or Masters preferred
2-3 years of workplace or related training/teaching experience preferred
Knowledge of adult learning theory
Ability to work with a diverse group of clients
Presentation and facilitation skills
Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills
Strong written and oral communication skills
Interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently

Working Conditions: All Business Services Instructors will be teaching classes on site at area employers. Some sites are accessible by public transportation, with additional contracts in the Greater Boston Area. Access to a reliable vehicle a definite plus and willingness to travel between employer locations is required. At times there are conference rooms, but there are also sites where we are working within a store, café, or other nontraditional teaching environment.
