ABOUT THE ROLE:
McKay Construction is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Estimator to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will prepare accurate cost estimates for residential construction projects, including new homes, additions, and renovations. This role requires strong analytical skills, knowledge of residential construction methods, and the ability to work collaboratively with project managers, vendors, and clients.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Review construction plans, specifications, and project documents.
• Prepare accurate material, labor, and subcontractor cost estimates.
• Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Develop detailed project budgets and bid proposals.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality standards.
• Maintain current pricing databases for labor, materials, and equipment.
• Collaborate with project managers throughout the preconstruction process.
• Assist with value engineering and scope analysis.
• Monitor estimating trends and recommend process improvements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• 5+ years of estimating experience in residential construction.
• Strong understanding of residential building methods, materials, and local building codes.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural plans.
• Experience with estimating software (BuilderTrend)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple estimates while meeting deadlines.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (preferred but not required).
• Experience estimating custom homes, remodels, and additions.
• Knowledge of residential permitting and construction scheduling.
