Replica of first documented catboat in America, UNA was built and sailed in 1852. It raced competitively in England and garnered quite a reputation for speed. Eventually, it was embraced and adopted by British shipwrights in various sizes for nearly forty years.

This 2018 sailboat is hand-made with cypress planks on white oak frames, white oak keel, the deck is Douglas fir covered with 10 ounce canvas and sealed with marine paint. It features a hollow mast and solid boom and gaff. All marine hardware was cast in silicon bronze from original hand-made wooden patterns. Hand-made blocks are ash with black locust sheaves. All bronze fasteners.

The hooped main sail is 240 square feet, the boat comes complete with cast bronze anchor, trailer and a 8 foot tender (with sprit sail rig), tiller and centerboard and sail. Additional features: 12 foot sweeps for rowing, Garmin GPS, solar panels and batteries, hand-held anemometer, offshore floats and mooring tackle, sail and deck covers, dock mooring lines, electric bilge pumps.

This is the only existing example of this boat in existence.

The original UNA was owned by an Irish peer, a scale model with plaque of the boat was presented to the Commodore of the Royal St George Yacht Club in 1853
