The Resident Services Coordinator (RSC) provides services to assist seniors and other disabled residents to remain independent in Drake Village community housing in Arlington Heights. Drake Village is a senior housing complex with 200+ residents. Working independently, the RSC maintains an environment to help residents be active and engaged, and gives seniors access to a wide range of support services such as personal care, homemaking, meals, health benefits counseling, etc.

The RSC will work closely in partnership with the Arlington Housing Authority staff, the Tenants Council, a Senior Dining Site Coordinator, home care providers, case managers, the Council on Aging, and other community groups to continue this successful model of care for Drake Village tenants. As a member of the Minuteman's Client Services team, the RSC has a solid understanding of the regulations guiding this role while using discretion and independent judgement. The RCS maintains information in the SIM database in accordance with the Executive Office of Elder Affairs (EOEA) and program documentation standards.

  • Creates an environment that helps residents be active and engaged and gives them access to a wide range of resources and support services so they can remain independent as they age.
  • Maintains regular office hour's onsite at Drake Village in Arlington Heights to meet with residents or their families.
  • Works closely with Tenant's Council representatives, the Housing Authority staff, and others to determine what activities and programs are desired and how they will be offered to assure maximum success.
  • Serves as primary onsite care coordinator for all services and program providers including Minuteman Senior Services Care Manager. Share community resource and service information with both MSS consumer residents and others. Liaison with all Minuteman departments and programs on behalf of Drake Village tenants.
  • Serves as primary liaison with all vendor agencies entering the building particularly the homemaker/ personal care provider to ensure coverage and adherence to quality standards.
  • Coordinates activities with the Senior Dining Site Manager for daily meals, special celebrations, and healthy aging programs.
  • Works closely in partnership with the Council on Aging and many other community groups to bring services and programs into Drake Village and encourage Drake Village residents to participate in community activities.
  • Completes quarterly resident demographic reports to EOEA and attends meetings at EOEA.
  • Serves as a resource to Minuteman Senior Services for senior housing with services models. Participate in agency meetings and trainings as required.
  • Attends training and follow Options Counseling model when indicated.
  • This position also requires coverage of some additional community consumers.

Teamwork and Cooperation: Demonstrates willingness to work with others toward a common goal as opposed to working in competition with others.

Time Management: Organizes and schedules people and tasks demonstrating the ability to balance requisite number of home visits per month with maintenance of notes; regularly produces accurate, thorough, professional work.

  • A Bachelor's Degree is required, preferably in a social services, social work, psychology, or human services related field.
  • Prior experience as a Care or Case Manager or Geriatric Services Support Coordinator in an ASAP (Aging Services Access Point) is preferred.
  • Experience utilizing MS Office including Word and Outlook.
  • Experience utilizing a database such as Access; SIM experience helpful.
  • Experience working with the elderly is preferred.
  • Bilingual in Mandarin and/or Cantonese Chinese is helpful to assist some of the residents.
  • A reliable car is required, as well as a valid driver's license and car insurance.
