The Protective Services Supervisor provides oversight and guidance to Protective Service Workers who provide intervention for elderly clients facing abuse, neglect by a caregiver, financial exploitation or self-neglect and assists with the overall management of the Protective Services program. This position reports to the Protective Services Program Manager.

  • Supervise a team of Protective Services Workers (PSWs) including:
    • meet with assigned PS Workers for regular individualized and group supervision, guidance and professional development and growth,.
    • approve and monitor investigations and ongoing service plans,
    • accompany PS Workers on visits when needed,.
    • provide input into the performance evaluation/improvement of workers,
    • conduct regular training for and meetings with team members,
    • participate in the recruitment of new staff by interviewing applicants and providing input on hiring,
    • orient new staff to ensure they possess the necessary competencies to perform their job.
  • In their absence, provide coverage for PSWs regarding intakes, investigation and intervention.
  • As needed, provide casework services to PS consumer population.
  • Consult with Minuteman Senior Services Care Managers, outside providers, community resources, and mandated reporters.
  • Screen incoming crisis cases, determine level of immediate risk in accordance with EOEA regulations, and assign cases to PSWs in a timely manner.
  • Supervise crisis cases needing short-term crisis intervention.
  • Increase awareness of Protective Services issues by providing training and outreach for Minuteman Senior Services staff, community resources, providers and mandated reporters.
  • Attend regional EOEA meetings for Protective Services Programs
  • Assist PS Program Manager with:
    • development and implementation of policies and procedures for Protective Services,
    • development of community resources for Protective Services programs,
    • Development and implementation of contracts for PSWs together with Contracts Manager and Director of Client Services,
    • Updating and maintaining emergency resource information for on-call PSWs.
    • Scheduling 24-hour coverage for Protective Services

Performance Management - Ensures clear goals and responsibilities of direct reports; works with employees to set and communicate performance standards that are specific and measurable; supports employees in their efforts to achieve job goals; provides specific performance feedback, both positive and corrective in a timely manner.

Critical Thinking and Problem Solving -Able to break down a situation into smaller pieces to identify key or underlying issues and figure out cause-and-effect relationships that can help solve it. Anticipate problems and resolutions. Analyzes current procedures for possible improvements.

Flexibility - Able to work effectively in a variety of situations and with various individuals and group.

  • Master's degree with a license in Social Work, Mental Health or related field, plus background in the field of domestic violence and crisis intervention
  • Minimum of one year supervisory experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience working with seniors
