Here are two vintage sifters including the sifter and the metal barrel. Sexton Can company made these - they are marked "Boston Sifter" and the sifters include the two hooks, these are most often missing when you find these for sale. Each barrel has some remmants of the original labels, and one includes a label from Gilchrist - a famous department store chain in Boston years ago. Barrels are stamped with an August 1919 patent date. Both barrels and sifters have been stored indoors for years. Sifters alone sell for $75+, asking $125 firm for EACH Sifter with Barrel. Sifters are often used for decorating, though I repurposed a similar one years ago as a light fixture as you can see in the images...THE LIGHT FIXTURE IS NOT FOR SALE.

I've seen these sifters for sale (missing the two hooks that are included in these sifters) but I have never seen the barrels for sale. These are over 100 years old! If you repurpose the sifter, the barrel is great for storage in your basement, garage, or shed, or repurpose the barrel with a table top to make an interesting side table for your deck, porch, or patio that includes storage!
