I've got a box full of two components, all are $5 each!
- There are a bunch of IDE CD ROM drives. These are pre-SATA drives. And they are CD ROM drives, not DVD drives, not 'burners'. This is what you'd use in computers from the late 90s and early 2000s.
- I have a ton of these individual drive power supplies. They plug into a normal wall outlet and have a 4-pin power adapter to plug in a drive. Or you could use them to get 12v / 5v output for any other project. All of them have the 4 pin "molex" style power plug, but most of them also have an SATA style power adapter.
- I have a bunch of USB2 to IDE/SATA combo adapters. These let you plug a drive into a USB port. You can connect an SATA data port, an 3.5" IDE connector, or a 2.5" IDE connector. The drive does need a power source too though (see above), except 2.5" IDE drives which I believe will work off bus power.
- Just added, a bunch of USB3 to SATA adapters. These are bus powered adapters, meaning they can only be used to hook up low powered drives like a 2.5" hard drive or an SSD. These adapters pull power from the USB port and connect to the SATA drive's power and data ports at the same time. These only connect to SATA drives, NOT IDE.
All items are $5 each. We can meet in Stoneham or Woburn near 93.
