Not really. But c'mon, Porchfest is fun. We've played in bands forever. Why not form a cover band that does songs that don't suck and floats around the Porchfest Summer Circuit, seeking to leave a path of broken hearts and satisfied souls in our wake? We can practice a handful of times in the next few months, play porchfest(s), and have some fun.
40 + dude here live in Reading. Played in bands forever. I have a full studio in my house. I don't have a practice space. I can either: play bass and sing; or play drums and not sing. Here's the flavor I'm thinking: power pop covers only, along the lines of:
* Tom Petty, The Cars (just what I needed anyone?), The Knack, Weezer (before they broke up- IE Blue / Pink), REM, cheap trick, early Beatles, The Smiths, That one good Todd Rungen song, Wilco, Fountains of Wayne, you get the idea.
This project is probably not for you if: 1) you play a double kick drum kit; 2) you play a guitar with MORE than 6 strings; 3) you want to takeover the via a music project; or 4) you play a PRS guitar.
