This 1957 Magnatone Mark III sounds and plays great. It was designed by Paul Bigsby for Magnatone as its first solid body electric guitar. It features a blonde lacquer finish, mahogany body, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, a single pickup, contoured body, and original brown alligator grain chipboard case. The pickup is mounted on a Formica pickguard that will not shrink or crack over time. The controls are a single volume and tone. The CTS pots date to the 47th week of 1955. A stamped metal bridge/tailpiece unit has a "cast Beryllium" saddle that adjusts for height and intonation with screws mounted through the cover. The neck has an adjustable truss rod, accessed at the headstock. The original aluminum nut has been replaced. Otherwise, the guitar is original. A few of the tuners are slightly bent but they turn fine. The tuner buttons have degraded a bit but are solid and not cracked. There are some nicks and scuffs as seen in the photos. The last fret is missing.
