I bought this guitar NOS from Manchester Music Mill last fall. It was the BEST PLAYING STRAT under $1200 in the store at the time. It is currently playing well, but the electronics have many issues and I'm passing it on to someone who did not grow to be insanely disappointed like I did.
It will need a new volume knob (the S-1 failed right after the return window,) the middle pickup is intermittent, the Seymour Duncan works but needs new screws (I was trying to use the same screws but that didn't work. That one's on me) The neck pickup works and sounds great.
The replaced bridge pickup is included (could work in the middle if the middle pickup is the issue)
The neck is nice, I levelled the frets a bit on the bass side but did not crown them. The tuners are TERRIBLE. They are stock but whoever designed these is a mean person. They need a coin or screwdriver to use and I never managed to get the string windings right on the first time (you have to wind the gear with the tuning key while keeping the post locked with a screwdriver. My advice would be to replace them.)
If you're looking for a solid player Vintage Modified to drop different electronics in, it's a great contender. The trem stays in tune surprisingly well. As far as new Strats go, it CAN be a great guitar... you will have to tweak the neck every so often with the humidity swings we've been getting, but its better than most. Gigbag included.
