We currently have a full-time opening for a Staff Accountant at NSCH in the Salem, MA administrative office. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant performs a variety of accounting functions related to Accounts Receivable, cash and banking, month-end closing activities and financial and management reporting. You will be an integral part of a dynamic, fast paced team which is committed to creating a world-class financial capability within NSCH.

As a team member you will work with staff who are racially, ethnically and culturally diverse, so being culturally competent is required. A sense of humor is also very important!

•Deposits, manages and tracks all cash, checks, and credit card advice each day and maintains the daily cash availability schedule, ensures accuracy and timeliness of transactions.
•Identifies cash receipts by payer source and provides monthly reporting to the CFO and Accounting Manager.
•Works closely with the billing team to insure billing, AR and payments are posted correctly and reconciled to the accounting database.
•Actively participates in the month-end closing process: Closing AR, AP, cash, performing account reconciliations, posting month-end journal entries, and assisting the CFO and Accounting Manager with financial and operational report preparation.
•Tracks and manages federal, state and private grants; insures funding sources are accurately attributed to staff and resources, and insures that time and effort records are accurately maintained.Serve as a backup to the Accounts Payable and Payroll Processor.
•Assist with the review of coding of invoices, check requests and wires.

•Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
•1-3 years of experience in accounting. An Associate's degree with 5+ years' experience will be considered.
•Experience in a not-for-profit environment required.
•Experience in a healthcare environment a plus.
•Proficiency with Excel (pivot tables, lookups) as well as accounting software (Intacct a plus).
•Solid analytical skills; ability to think and act independently in a fast paced ever changing environment.
•Excellent organizational and communication skills.
•Experience with payroll processing.
•Ability to travel to all NSCH sites is required.
