Using a hive stand not only makes it easier to work with a hive, but helps those who can not lift well due to physical limitations.

The sturdy design sees your bottom board lifted to 13-1/2" above the ground
Stand is partially assembled; just install the wooden shims with four bolts and tighten 7/16" nuts with a socket wrench

White cedar is a knotty wood, and there will be knots and other defects of varying size.
