If you answered yes, consider this big jump on a real career and unique, valuable experience starting this month teaching media literacy, TV production, graphic design, media production, design thinking and tech skills to Boston area youth. You will gain actual teaching experience, develop curriculum, and work on cutting edge educational challenges that can have an impact on teaching and learning and inspire young people. HOME, Inc, a media literacy organization that has been working in area school systems and in community settings for the last 40 years is seeking a service volunteer to lead media lab/literacy initiatives for youth at one Boston area location.

Ideal candidate would be recent a college graduate with college major and/or significant experience in TV Production/Film, Media, Mass Communications, Social Media, Public Relations, Education, etc. Also important: Apple /Mac computers and intermediate to advanced experience with Adobe Creative Cloud apps including Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, etc. Start as soon as possible.

This is a full time immersive service year / internship for a non-profit group which runs now and into this summer. The Media Lab/TV Coordinator will be involved in the following:
After orientation and training by HOME, you will be working with youth, other service volunteers, school teachers and staff to make a difference with technical and media projects in a computer/media lab at a High School. Activities could include working with English language learners to create media projects, helping students use media, the internet and other technologies, helping with 3D printer, CNC router, and maker space projects in the lab during the school day and afterschool. This will include leading students in small video production teams to locations around the city in after school/summer programs. As part of your service year, you will spearhead a summer program in 2019 producing episodes of TeenTV for distribution nationally on public access television. Specific skills required for this position are writing, research, video production, graphic design, with specific skills in adobe suite, Premier, and PhotoShop, web authoring, technical support, classroom management and teaching skills. Spanish speaking a plus. This full-time service position includes a $484 bi weekly living stipend, a monthly T-Pass, (and you may qualify for Mass Health Insurance).
