Looking for a short-term roommate to share a really nice, sunny apartment. My departing roommate is a Harvard Education grad student!
Room can be unfurnished or furnished. If furnished, includes large corner L-shaped desk and bed seen in photos, as well as a small dresser or two.
The Building:
Five-story building just above Cambridge Common Park and west of the Harvard Law School. Five steps to enter the building; main building has an elevator. Laundry room (pay for wash and dry via app) is in the basement; there are three washers and three dryers. Property manager has been responsive with any problems (so far, just a toilet that leaked). For Harvard Square, it is surprisingly easy to park on our block.
The Apartment:
The apartment is officially a 2-bedroom, but my bedroom is in the formal dining room so you will have your choice of either of the two regular bedrooms. One has two closets, the other has one larger closet. Both face east and get tons of morning light, as does the living room. Other room is currently used for storage and for guests, but could become more office-like.
• Heat is included in rent.
• We have two portable air conditioner units but didn't use them much last summer; apartment has great cross-ventilation so we got by with fans and breeze.
• The $1800 does not include utilities (electric, gas, internet), but those will run ~$50 a month without air conditioning.
Me:
• 45F, Chemistry PhD, work at a biotech company in Kendall Square. I'm from LA, and I've lived in a bunch of cities before now and most recently (1.5 years ago) moved from Pittsburgh. I like going to the movies, Armory, Figurative Arts Center, etc. in Cambridge/Somerville.
• I have a small dog (chihuahua mutt guy) who is quiet and has lived happily with a cat roommate before, so another cat or other small pet roommate, if you have one, could work out!
• I work 9-5 in Kendall Square and would not mind a roommate who works from home. I'm usually out a fair amount evenings and weekends. We have a living room with a TV that I don't use much outside of the occasional weekend morning; happy to have you have friends over.
Things that are less than 10 minute walk away: Harvard Square, Mass Ave shops, Cambridge Public Library, War Memorial Recreation Center. Porter Square is a 15-minute walk away.
Open to a summer subletter or someone who wants to add onto lease renewing Aug 15!
