Pair #1: Fairtex “Standard” Thai Pads. As the name implies, these are the typical Fairtex pads - not the smallest, not the largest. Excellent all around Thai Pads. This set is in great shape with no significant wear or issues. Price is $60
Pair #2: Fairtex “Extra Thick” Thai Pads. These are thicker and a little bit longer and wider than the standard pads. These will work when holding for any kicker but they are optimized for taller/heavier athletes with longer legs and harder kicks. This set is also in excellent condition, with no wear to speak of. Price:$95
Set #3: Thaismai Extra Thick. These are a little unusual - these are nearly the identical length and width of the Fairtex extra thick pads, but these pads are much thicker, and the padding is softer, whereas the Fairtex pads are very firm.
I found these Thaismai pads really good for two situations: First, when you have newer kickers who aren’t used to smashing their shins on hard pads ( like the Fairtex pads are) these can make for a more comfortable learning experience. Second: If you do a lot of training of hard kickers that outweigh you by 70 - 125 lbs, the softer padding on these pads can really help save your elbows and shoulders from wear and tear. These were joint savers for me, though they are a bit more awkward to hold than thinner/smaller pads.
According to Thaismai website they don’t make this model any more, which is a shame. Pads are in very good condition, showing just a few small areas of minor wear. Nothing serious at all. Price is $90.
