A separate small hardware component is attached to the device to be secured using screws or bolts. The kit comes with two different pieces (rectangular; cylindrical) for different item types. Typically, the hardware is attached to existing screw holes on a computer chassis or case but it can be attached to other devices, as well (monitor, display, lab equipment, etc.). The cable is looped around a desk or pipe or other fixed item, plugged into the hardware locking fixture and secured.
In the reverse sense, the cable can be looped around a bicycle frame and the locking end can be secured to a bench or fence or other permanent fixture.
If the item to be secured has a suitable fixture or hole in the case or chassis, you can secure the cable to the item using a padlock (see photo). A padlock is NOT included.
There are TWO complete, unused lock sets available. $10 each.
