Executive Assistant to Super Cool CEO of Greentech Startup

We are looking for a dynamic assistant to be the true right-hand to an awesome CEO and founder of an energy startup in Boston. This is a highly visible role –– the CEO is a productive and pretty punctual guy, but wants someone to help him always feel prepared. You’ll quickly become his go-to person who can swoop in and take care of the details, helping him focus on the bigger picture, the stuff that matters in running a successful startup experiencing very significant growth.

This means we need someone who cares about what they do and how they do it and when they do it –– a sense of urgency is key. You should be self-sufficient and scrappy, with the chops to own a complicated task from start to finish. You should enjoy working independently and figuring out how to get things done, even if you’ve never done them before. You sweat the small stuff, so in the rare cases where something isn’t quite right, you care enough to find a way to make it so. You’ve never met a problem you couldn’t solve –– resourceful might as well be your middle name.

  • Taking big-picture assignments and filling in the blanks.
  • Supporting the CEO in every facet of starting and running a company.
  • Proactively identifying ways to improve the efficiency/efficacy of the CEO.
  • Anticipating needs and constantly/consistently staying two (or ten!) steps ahead.
  • Serving as a sounding board to the CEO in decision-making on key business matters.
  • Partnering with CEO to prepare important client-facing and/or investor-facing presentations.
  • Supporting the CEO in various encounters with clients, such as conferences or potential partnership meetings.
  • Building and maintaining great relationships with people at all levels, from the maids to the newest multi-million dollar client.
  • Triaging heavy flow of emails into inbox, including drafting correspondence, prioritizing what needs to be accomplished, and streamlining task management. 
  • Coordinating an often challenging calendar by stepping up as a liaison to stakeholders across multiple time zones).
  • Owning what you have on your plate as well as constantly seeking out new ways to contribute. 
  • Maintaining high degree of confidentiality and handling private information with utmost discretion.
  • Following-up and following-through on all action items.
  • Staying on top of ever-changing priorities and projects.
  • Critical thinker and creative problem solver.

  • Personable and persuasive –– possessing an innate talent for interacting well with people at all levels, inside and outside of the organization.
  • Self-starter and self-motivated. Not afraid to roll up your sleeves.
  • You’ve tackled something significant before (even if it failed) –– and as a result you have deep empathy for people who are working hard to do big things and create real change in the world.
  • You're excited by taking big ideas and breaking them down into actionable items (that can be measured by and decided on with data).
  • You have a demonstrated interest in (or strong drive to learn) the greentech industry.
  • Prior experience in a startup is a big plus.
