About Us
There are currently three people looking to start this cooperative. We range in age from twenties thru forties, and have years of co-op experience.
AvirLev practices a traditionally-informed & mystically-inclined Judaism, and has just finished the Adamah Farm Fellowship, where he spent three months farming and talking Torah. After many years as an organizer, he is now pivoting to work more in the Jewish world. He enjoys board games, raves, and God-talk, loves hosting symposiums and ragers, and collects bad jokes.
Amelia (23, she/her) is a nuclear scientist, music-lover and wannabe-artist. Growing up in a secular household, she has found joy and satisfaction in becoming more involved with her Judaism in her twenties. She fills her time with friends, good food, weightlifting, cycling, climbing and listening to + making music. She is the proud caretaker of a small black cat named Mercury, who is always excited to meet new people and make friends.
R works in the communal Jewish world. She has her sh*t together but is also goofy and loves to laugh. A “back of the pack” athlete, she enjoys music, dancing, and hosting Shabbas events. She identifies as an extrovert and prides herself in being a coop / community nerd.
The Vision
We are looking to set up a coop regularly scheduled house meetings, a division of chores, cooking responsibilities, shared resources (utilities, groceries, or otherwise – TBD), and creating intentional time together. We hope to act as a center of community, which can look like hosting events to acting as a form of community support. We also hope to host events, which might range from sharing occasional Shabbos meals, hosting parties, going to events together, etc.
Logistics
We found a beautiful 5-6 bedroom house in Winter Hill, Somerville with incredible communal space, just renovated, a yard, driveway, basement for storage, good sized bedrooms, 2.5 bath, it's gorgeous! See attached photos; the house is available Jan. 1 and we would like to apply and sign asap!
