We have two long-term spots opening up in our wonderful living arrangement at the corner of Windsor and Hampshire, and we'd be interested in hearing from you if you're fun, open-minded, easy to live with, relaxed, responsible and respectful of your living space and interested in being a part of our group. There are six of us (including you). One room is available starting July 1, 2026, one room is available starting Sept 1, 2026.

House:
The living room has a couch, coffee table, bookcase and bright bay window. We don't have a TV but do have a projector for occasional screenings. There is wifi, of course. Cleaning service twice a month for all of the common areas ($30 each / month)
Great kitchen: Fully equipped, open and airy. It has a double oven, separate gas range, large fridge, separate chest freezer, microwave, toasters, citrus juicer, bread maker, dishwasher, blenders, pots, pans....and probably a bunch of other stuff
One and a half baths (it sounds crazy, but we really rarely have a problem with capacity due to so many different schedules here)
Big & nice backyard space with a grill, garden bed, and clotheslines
Basement with bike parking, workbench, washer and dryer (smartphone-op). We have two parking spots in the back that are first-come, first-serve: if you have a car, you’ll need a Cambridge parking permit as there’s no guarantee those spots will be available.
The rooms:
July 1: This cozy room is at the top of the house, non-street-side, so it’s extremely quiet - it’s possible to be up here and not know who else is at home. Window overlooks the backyard.
September 1: Second floor of the house. This is an L-shaped room with 3 windows. TONS of natural light. Slightly more noise because it’s streetside.
Location:
We’re a ~10-15 minute walk (5 minute bike ride) to Central Square or Kendall/MIT T stops, very close to the Lamplighter/Pepita Cafe, Formaggio, and The Garment District. There are many proximate bus stops to our streets – e.g., bus stop for #s 68 and 64 around the corner & within a 10 minute walk of 1 & CT1, 70 & 70A, 47, CT2, and others.

The housemates: We are researchers, grad students, professionals, and independent artists, late 20's to mid 30s, working in film, developmental studies, climate, education, and more. We are unable to accommodate tobacco smoking, couples, or pets. We are looking for a housemate who will add to the house and our group, respect the house and the housemates, as well as pay rent and utilities on time. We definitely prefer people on the neat, clean, timely, responsible end of things. We also prefer people who are on the fun, cool, and interesting end of things. We value keeping the common areas open for everyone to enjoy, and while we enjoy occasional scheduled group movie screenings, this wouldn't be a good fit if you like to TV/sports marathons in a shared space.
YOU4US: if you’re interested in living somewhere with community and friendship in-built; with interesting people who do interesting things; with a decent amount of independence and flexibility; with structured and clear communication on house matters; that isn’t a full co-op situation; this might be a good fit :o)
US4YOU: We’re interested in someone looking to contribute to the house in community and in personality; who has a rich and robust internal life, if not an external one; who is respectful of others and a good communicator; who can pay rent and do so at a reasonable time; who understands that shared living needs both warmth and logistics; who may be good at coming up with compelling themes for the ~two annual Windsor House parties!!!!!!!

Why is the place so cheap? The landlord is largely absent, and we do much of the maintenance and care ourselves. Expect to spend some time problem solving - but also an ability to make the space our own. In addition, it's a little rough around the edges. All-in costs are approx. $950 / month on average, and you'll need first and last.

What we'd like to know about you: Tell us about yourself! Who are you? What do you currently spend most of your time doing? What do you study / enjoy? Is it Pynchon, Go, programming, the hard problem of consciousness, urban planning, materials science, music? What's your favorite dessert...or are you more into savory food? ----What are you looking for in a living situation?---- Inquiring housemates want to know. Thanks for bearing with us this far! You're already looking good.
