COME JOIN OUR TEAM for a fun-filled summer camp experience with blind and visually-impaired youth who come from all over the country to enjoy seven weeks of learning, enrichment, and especially fun!
We seek an enthusiastic, creative and energetic Recreation Activities Coordinator to manage weekly field trips and afternoon/evening activities as well as support a high level of positivity and energy among the teens for their social and physical benefits. Our program strives to introduce teens with visual impairments to a broad range of activities to include: sports, exercise, dance, music, crafts, cooking, trivia and more. Also, will maintain attendance and discipline during group activities, coordinate transportation for the recreational activities, assist with extra support where needed and provide transportation for students as necessary.
M, W, F 3pm-8:30pm
Tuesday 8am- 9pm (for field trip, potentially flexible)
Saturdays 9am-4pm for field trips
Position runs from June 2nd through August 17th. Training begins prior to start of the program on a flexible schedule. Reduced evening hours week of July 2rd, then up to full schedule mentioned above, the week of July 10th.
Bachelor's Degree in one of the following areas preferred: physical education, adapted physical education, recreational therapy, special education, or related field. Ideal for teachers looking for summer employment! Applicants must be 21 years or older and possess a valid driver's license. Experience working in a variety of recreational activities with teens who have disabilities a plus.
The Carroll Center for the Blind, located in Newton, Massachusetts, is a private, non-profit agency which serves persons of all ages who are blind or visually impaired. We are close to Boston, Cambridge, Wellesley, Watertown, Waltham, Allston/Brighton, and on public transit routes.
