Purpose of the Position:

This position will assist in instructing participants in the Introduction to Food Arts program, and help prepare them for competitive employment in the food service industry. This position provides coaching, training and supervision in the Bullfinch Bistro at Community Work Services New England. This position monitors and communicates program participant's progress with the Culinary Director. This position manages the long term daily catering contracts. This position assists in overseeing the daily operations in the Bullfinch Bistro.

Essential Functions:

Responsible for assisting in the instruction of trainees in the Introduction to Food Arts program using existing curriculum
Assist in preparing food for cafeteria, daily catering, special functions and meetings including menu planning and ordering
Produces and delivers meals to daily long-term catering contract
Supervise cleaning and closing of the Bullfinch daily
Responsible for the safety of program participants in training program; reports urgent participant issues to appropriate parties in a timely fashion
Maintain cleanliness and organization of all food service areas
Provide sanitation and safety training based on ServSafe principals
Administrative Tasks

Maintain complete and accurate daily participant attendance and punctuality documentation through manual record keeping
Maintain and execute inventory of food and sundries for in-house and off-site foodservice
Maintain documentation of temperature logs for all coolers, freezers and hot food deliveries
Meet regularly with Chef for supervision and team meetings
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Experienced in food preparation, cooking, plating and service
Working knowledge of front of the house operations including strong customer service skills and cash register experience
Can work both independently and in a team environment
Ability to demonstrate concern and sensitivity towards trainees and their individual needs and learning styles while still providing consistent training and education for all program participants
Knowledge of and ability to follow Agency policies and procedures.
Knowledge of and ability to follow department policies and procedures.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to be flexible, adapt to changing situations, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.
Ability to resolve problems within scope of responsibilities
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to interact effectively and professionally with staff and management
Ability to work independently and take initiative when appropriate
Requirements
Qualifications:

Associates Degree, Vocational Degree or other recognized certification in related field, minimum requirement
Possession of valid and current Massachusetts Driver's License required
ServSafe Manager Certification required
5 years' minimum of relevant industry experience at a supervisory level
Experience working with disabled persons preferred
