Job Description
Purpose of the Position

To prepare program participants for competitive employment in the community by teaching soft skills in a classroom setting. Topics include appropriate work place behavior, communication, conflict resolution, interviewing, resume development and labor market trends and information. The Job Readiness Training class follows a six-week curriculum and generally coincides with participant enrollment in a CWS training such as food arts, commercial cleaning or hotel and hospitality training. This position will also teach the At Your Service, an 8 week program that prepares individuals for entry level careers in the hospitality industry.

Essential Functions

Job Readiness and At Your Services Training Instruction:

Responsible for the instruction of participants in job readiness training using existing curriculum.
Responsible for the instruction of participants in At Your Services job readiness training using START curriculum through the American Hotel and Lodging Association.
Assist with the development of written lesson plans based on the existing curriculum; update curriculum to ensure that skills being taught continue to meet the labor market demand.
Administer written and practical tests related to the curriculum.
Administer written, oral, and/or practical tests, based on inclusion standards, related to the curriculum:

Evaluate the student's progress in the JRT class including ability to comprehend, perform and retain information; report assessment to Case Managers, Training Instructors and Management Team.
Report attendance and progress utilizing the Efforts to Outcome (ETO) software in accordance with accreditation standards.
Contribute to job development activities including, but not limited to, resume writing, interview skills and developing job placement leads.
Participate in agency and team meetings and functions.
Other duties as assigned.
Workforce Development Team Support:
Assist with recruitment of candidates for the training program and participate in assessment, matriculation, graduation and graduate support activities.
Conduct assessments and relay feedback to the Workforce Development team regarding participant progress.
Support and mentor trainees utilizing a positive and encouraging approach.
Assist WFD with placement assistance including developing internship sites and employment-partnerships prior to and during job search.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
A high degree of technical ability to relay information in a manner that provides a positive learning experience.
Ability to demonstrate concern and sensitivity towards program participants and their individual needs and learning styles while still providing consistent training and education for all students.
Ability to work with program participants of diverse backgrounds, experiences and barriers to employment.
Knowledge of and ability to follow Agency policies and procedures.
Knowledge of and ability to follow department policies and procedures.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to be flexible, adapt to changing situations, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.
Ability to plan and schedule personnel as required.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to resolve problems within scope of responsibilities.
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to interact effectively and professionally with staff and management.
Ability to work independently and take initiative when appropriate.
Knowledge of and ability to use a computer and work in a windows software environment using Microsoft office.

Qualifications:
Associates degree with at least three years of experience in workforce development
Bachelor's Degree in human services or related field preferred.
Experience with curriculum development and teaching experience strongly preferred.
