POSITION: Donor Relations Coordinator
ORGANIZATION: Urban Farming Institute (urbanfarminginstitute.org)
HOURS: 20 hours/week (part-time)
LOCATION: Flexible; office at 34 Linwood St, Roxbury (shifting to 487 Norfolk St, Mattapan later in 2018)
The Urban Farming Institute (UFI) develops and promotes urban farming as a commercial sector that creates green collar jobs for residents and engages urban communities in building a healthier and more locally based food system.
Building lasting relationships between UFI and its donors is essential to growing our work into the future. The Donor Relations Coordinator will administer all aspects of the organization's recently-developed Donor Relations Plan. This role is primarily an administrative function, intended for an individual with strong organizational and communication skills, even if a limited background in fundraising. The Coordinator will report directly to the Executive Director, and will work in partnership with staff, board members, and volunteers.
a) Assist with establishment of campaign fundraising goals
b) Solicit prospective donor lists from board members and executive directors
c) Enter existing and prospective donors in the donor relations database, conduct profile research on medium and large donors, and maintain donor profiles including ongoing interactions
d) Administer the annual calendar of donor relations meetings, events, and campaigns -- including notifying, following up with, and supporting the individuals responsible for execution
e) Produce periodic newsletters and an annual appeal
f) Assist with the organization of donor relations events
g) Initiate the creation of fundraising circles and support their ongoing fundraising work
h) Coordinate organizational donor relations trainings
i) Produce a monthly dashboard of donor relations goals and achievements
j) Process donations and provide timely acknowledgement

- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Comfort and experience working with the diverse communities of Metro Boston
- Understanding of and commitment to UFI's mission and the ability to effectively communicate it
- Comfort with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Docs
- Salesforce experience preferred (not required)
