The Main Idea at Camp Walden, a 10-day residential camping program for girls of low-income families, seeks dedicated and caring counselors for the 2018 session.
The Main Idea is a free of charge, camp experience located in Denmark, Maine - about an hour outside of Portland. Campers come from Boston, Hartford, Maine and New York.
Counselors' duties include the supervision and instruction of daily camp activities (swimming, tennis, dance, arts and crafts, soccer, sailing, horseback ridding, computers and more), residing in and supervising of camper bunks (for female hires only), leading or assisting in an overnight camping trip and serving as role models while helping to create a safe and nurturing environment.
All staff will be expected to attend one overnight camping trip with the campers. Minimal camping experience is preferred but not required.
Looking for qualified Horseback Riding Instructors, Certified Lifeguards (or persons with the skill to pass a Lifeguard course) and willing persons to attend a 2-day high/low ropes course training in late June.
Camp runs August 12th through August 26th, with staff arriving on August 12th to attend a three-day training.
