I'm a bass player and a saz/bağlama player based in Watertown, MA and am currently in the process of forming my own Turkish folk-rock band. Up until recently I played bass guitar and sang backing vocals for TAŞ band (please see below ig link.) We played four successful shows last year in 2025.

In this new act I am forming I will be playing the Saz/Bağlama and singing the lead vocals. I am building a repertoire of cover songs from the Turkish folk and classical music with the goal of writing originals. Altin Gün & Derya Yıldırım ve Grup Şimşek are two good examples of the sound I have in mind but I would like to lean a bit towards the Indie Rock sound.
I am looking for a percussionist who can play darbuka, Egyptian dümbek (doumbek) and bendir, and a drummer who can handle Turkish/Arabic rhythms and time signatures.
This is not a full time engagement for I have a full time day job, but and I feel very passionately about music and I practice every day. I take music very seriously and am looking forward to playing live shows, starting with local scene and festivals and if time, finances and the project allows I would not mind venturing out of Boston area.
I have a rehearsal space as a primary meeting spot in Allston, MA. It would be great if you had your own instrument(s) but not a must. The rehearsal space has got a drum kit as long as you provide your own snare and cymbals.
A little about me: I am 51 years old, identify as ‘male’, I support left wing politics, I am LGBTQ+ friendly.
Music that described me throughout the years: Galaxy 500, Fikret Kızılok, Bülent Ortaçgil, Altin Gün, Derya Yıldırım ve Gurup Şimşek, Heavy Metal, Turkish traditional folk music, old school Blues, Leonard Cohen, PJ Harvey, Thelonius Monk, TheThe Band are some of them.
