This mic is tested and sounds great. Diaphragm is good. This has been used in my demo studio only. Never gigged live. Never dropped. A desktop tripod stand is included. The legs can be unscrewed ,.. allowing for this to fit on a standard mic stand. This is in excellent condition.
This is the most popular mic for home studio recording. Great for musical instruments, drum overheads,.. cymbals, vocals, and podcasting. The XLR version .. like this one, is considered better sounding than the USB version. These sell new on amazon for $120.
The Audio-Technica AT2020 is a large-diaphragm condenser microphone that’s been a go-to “first real studio mic” for years. It’s a big step up from USB mics like your Snowball.
Type: Condenser (side-address)
Connection: XLR (requires audio interface + phantom power)
Polar pattern: Cardioid
It’s considered one of the best budget studio mics ever made—and still shows up on “best cheap mic” lists today.
Clean, detailed, “studio” sound
Slight brightness on top end (helps vocals cut through)
Tighter and more natural than cheap USB mics
Works well on:
Vocals (especially rock / punk / indie)
Acoustic guitar
Guitar amps (room mic)
Podcasting
More depth, more clarity, less “boxy” sound
Excellent value for the money
Durable and consistent—people use them for years
Versatile across voice + instruments
Low-mass diaphragm gives good transient detail (fast response to sound)
From real-world users:
“Reliable, predictable, and sturdy… a workhorse
