The Boss ML-2 Metal Core is a high-gain distortion pedal released in 2007 by Boss Corporation (Roland). It was designed specifically for modern extreme metal tones—much heavier and more aggressive than most earlier Boss distortion pedals.Boss actually marketed it as “the most potent and heavy distortion pedal” they had ever produced.
The ML-2 was aimed at modern metal styles that require huge gain and tight low end:
Nu-metal
Death metal
Grindcore
Industrial metal
Hardcore
It produces extreme distortion with heavy low frequencies and a sharp attack, letting riffs stay tight even with blast-beat drumkey design goal was to work well with:

The pedal has a LOW control that boosts deep bass frequencies and a HIGH control for cutting metallic trebles.
