MATH TUTOR
Grades 5-12
I have experience teaching and tutoring elementary & high school math and college mechanical & biomedical engineering. I also taught in the over-hyped and expensive after-school math program in Boston Metro and I guarantee a much better, personalized program for both the overachievers and the kids who need extra help, at lower cost.
I specialize in remedial tutoring and also doing AP & SAT exam prep.
In every case I start from solidifying the basic principles before moving on to specific topics. You have to trust me that we will reach the desired goal by the set date if you follow my instructions. My program hinges on your and your child's commitment, which is often the hardest part. More than any other discipline, math is highly sequential so missing any of the basics can make further progress extremely difficult if not impossible.
LOCATION: at your home or local library's study room in Boston proper, Cambridge, Somerville, Arlington, Belmont, Watertown and points North. Also, on weekends, New Hampshire towns on Concord — North Conway line are also possible.
I prefer to start with in-person appointments, 2 hrs each session. Online appointments for 1hr or longer are possible only after we establish the routine and you have a suitable online system. I prefer minimum 2 sessions per week set schedule, but other arrangements are also possible.
The first appointment is 1hr in person--we will chat about your child's education path and the outcomes you want to achieve. I will also give your child a 20 minute assessment to get the idea where they are in their education journey. Then we will agree on a plan and you will make a payment for the first 2 classes (or first month, if you take a package).
MY RATE depends on the program you choose and my assessment of your child's level:
- week by week: $150+ per 2-hour session with with 2 sessions minimum
- personalized discount for a long-term package (preferred)
- 15% referral discount (when your referred friend signs up).
