Handyman help wanted to improve a rough unfinished attic space
- House is 100+ year old gable roof
- Attic is long and narrow (~ 30' x 10')
- Improvement needed to facilitate work on HVAC system
- Access via ladder and trap door in 3rd floor hallway ceiling
Scope of work
- *New* Reposition insulation in place (hard to estimate the amount, but it IS possible to walk in the space currently and access the HVAC unit)
- *Changed* Install enough flooring to allow comfortable walking in the space; this will be roughly 6' wide by 15' long.
- *New* To insure adequate insulation, height of joists should be increased by laying 2" thick rigid XPS foam (25 PSI).
- Refill channels with insulation to 10" height
- Construct floor of 5/8" or 3/4" plywood. Distribute remaining insulation to eaves and to unused back end.
- To be determined whether there is excess insulation that needs to be removed
Of course, you are welcome to come by and view the space. Address will be provided when you respond with interest, a phone number, and some rough idea of availability.
