Massachusetts General Hospital research study on Generalized Anxiety Disorder
Do your feel excessively anxious or worried about a number of life issues or day-to-day concerns more often than not? Do you find it difficult to control your worry or to stop worrying?
If you are currently suffering from Generalized Anxiety Disorder and:
You are between 18 and 40 years old;
You are right-handed;
You have normal (or corrected) vision;
You are not taking psychotropic or sleep medications;
You do not have any metal in your body;
You are not pregnant;
You do not have any tattoos with metallic ink or non-removable piercings;
You may be eligible to participate in a research study exploring how the human brain forms and stores emotional memories and how this is affected by good and poor sleep in anxious individuals.
This study involves 6 visits to Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) East in Charlestown. Participants will complete a psychiatric and sleep disorders interview, two MRI scans, and three nights of at-home sleep recording. Additionally, participants will be asked to keep a sleep diary and wear a wrist activity monitor for two weeks.
For more information and eligibility guidelines, please contact research coordinator Carol Daffre.
