The Weavers’ Guild of Boston Annual Juried Sale offers shoppers a wide range of over 1500 individually handcrafted items. There is an extensive selection of creative clothing, including many scarves and shawls for all seasons and occasions. Many household wovens, such as blankets, rugs, placemats and towels are available as well. Most items are hand woven, although knitted, felted and/or sewn pieces are also available.
The Exhibit showcases the results of this year’s guild challenge, “Creative Game”. Each participant chose four cards representing four different categories: Technique/weave structure, Design, Color, and Fiber. The challenge was to produce any household item, piece of clothing or tapestry based on the parameters given on the four cards. Each participant had different parameters and each piece is beautiful and unique.
There will also be an on-going weaving demonstration using a 4-shaft loom.
This year, we will be hosting the event at the beautiful new Weston Art & Innovation Center (AIC), 356 Boston Post Road, Weston MA 02493. This newly renovated space is a hands-on learning and maker space branch of the Weston Public Library. Visit on the following days and times:
Friday, November 15, from 10 AM to 6 PM
Saturday, November 16, from 10 AM to 6 PM
Sunday, November 17, from 10 AM to 3 PM
“The guild is delighted to have the sale back in Weston. The new Art and Innovation Center will be an ideal place to hold the sale. In addition to unique handwovens, you will also find some felted, knit, and crocheted items that will be perfect for your home, yourself or as a gift. As always, guild members will be on hand to answer questions,” stated Nancy Flood, sale chairperson.

About the Weavers’ Guild of Boston
Founded in 1922, the Weavers' Guild of Boston (WGB) is the oldest and one of the largest weavers' guilds in the United States. The WGB was an outgrowth of the Arts and Crafts movement that emphasized the repertoire of crafts skills and standards of workmanship in the face of increased mass production of goods. The WGB functions as a regional gathering for New England weavers, with many members belonging to one or more local guilds. Guild programs such as workshops and discussion groups, educate members and the general public in the artistic and technical aspects of handweaving, and serve to advance the standards of handweaving. A portion of the sales’ proceeds will support the study and weaving of textiles. Find more information at www.weaversguildofboston.org
