This is a gorgeous pair of classic Ohm C2 speakers. They are all original except that they have after market woofers. The replacement woofers sound great. They seem to be either Dayton or Goldwood manufactured, but I can not verify, as the previous owner glued on the speaker directly to the cabinets. I tried to get the woofers off,.. but to do this, I would have potentially bent the metal woofer frames,... so I didn't pull them off. The Mid ranges and tweeters are original. Crossovers and grills are original too.
Yes, these are not the original woofers,.. but my price reflects that. Please take into mind that if you can find a pair of C2 with original woofers in this awesome shape, they would be twice as expensive, and then the original woofers may have problems.. voice coil rub, bad foam, poorly done re foam jobs, ect. A pair of C2 with original woofers in this shape is a rare find.If you can get a pair under $700 that do not have any issues,.. buy them asap... if not, this is a great alternative. These are priced according to their superb condition and replacement woofers.
The original Mid Ranges and tweeters are flawless.
These were made in Brooklyn forty years ago. The C2 is Ohm's most popular speaker. They sold thousands of these for a reason. They were a well designed speaker that got rave reviews.
This is a beautiful pair. It's hard to find C2 speakers with all original drivers in this shape. I used half a can of Howard's Restore-A-Finish ( the good stuff ) to make these glow. The sound is big and full. Tight bass, clear mid range, and shimmering highs from the super tweeter. They are in fantastic condition per pictures. Excellent wood cabinets and gorgeous grills. Quality was #1 priority at Ohm. Even the backs of these speakers are beautiful, with black formica back panels. Grills are in great shape. Logo tags are all intact. These sound heavenly and look beautiful.
The Ohm C2 is a vintage 3-way bookshelf speaker system from the late 1970s that features a 10-inch woofer, a low tweeter, and a dome super tweeter. Key specifications include a minimum frequency response of (37-20,000 Hz ) (\(+4\text{dB}\) on axis), a nominal impedance of 8 Ohms, and dimensions of 25 nches times 14 inches times 9.75 inches . It also has a 3-position tweeter attenuator on the back to control high frequencies. Recommended power 15 to 120 watts.
The replacement woofers sound great to me.. but that is a subjective thing. If you buy these, you can keeo these woofers,..or put your favorite replacement woofer in them,.. or, yu can always order the official replacement woofers from Ohm direct. They still sell them. They aren't cheap ( $250 each ) and they don't look like the originals,.. but they claim that they sound similar. Another option would be to buy original old stock replacement woofers on Ebay,.. but I would be very cautious of this type of solution,.. as most of the original C2 woofers I have seen have issues.
