The Sansui 4000 is one of their more powerful receivers at the time it was designed in 1969. This is from the early Silver Face era of Japanese Hifi excellence. These units are valued for their tube-like warmth. These receivers are a great bang for the buck.... similar in build quality, style, power,. and sound to the coveted Harman Kardon HK730 receiver of this era.... but the Sansui 4000 is priced well below the HK730,.. which typically sells for $1000 on the market.
This is a fully functional and great sounding classic. Rated at 45 watts per channel, but , those are conservative 70's ratings. By today's output measurement benchmarks, this would measure significantly more output. This has got the muscle to drive large efficient speakers nicely.
This unit is running and sounding perfectly. This has no issues. I did some service on this. I cleaned it out. I used de-oxit to spray clean all the dials for smooth static-free operation. All knobs and inputs are tested and work perfectly. The radio tuner works flawlessly ,.. and the FM stereo light works. Phono input is great sounding.
This is in great condition. Silver front and case are in excellent condition per pictures. This shines beautifully, with bright green FM dial. This has warm incandescent bulbs and they all work . This is all original, not modified. I have seen these vintage receivers ruined with bad recap jobs with cheap Chinese capacitors. This is perfect to it's original quality Japan spec design and original components. This is a beauty on the inside and out.
Crafted in Japan during the Silver Face 70's era . An audio masterpiece. Cosmetically excellent. No dents and only light patina to show from it's 55 years of age. This has been well taken care of,.... better than the majority of the beat up Sansui out here. This is an amazing unit that sounds as beautiful as it looks.
