Electro-mechanical Engineer/Fabricator at MIT Media Lab (Cambridge)

The Poetic Justice group at MIT Media Lab is looking for part-time or contract engineers and fabricators to assist with designing and building electro-mechanical components for interactive and sound-reactive installations. Poetic Justice is a new group researching social issues ranging from mass incarceration to refugee migration and producing conceptual artworks around them in mediums ranging from sculpture and installation to sound and performance. We're looking for applicants who are passionate about breaking down the complexities of social issues and building up visibility, accountability, and solidarity around them.

Preferred requirements:
-Bachelor’s degree in related field or related experienced
-experience with 3D modeling software (e.g. Fusion 3D, Vectorworks, Solidworks, Autocad, Rhino 3D, etc.)
-experience with shop tools ranging from hand and basic machine shop tools to rapid prototyping tools (e.g. laser-cutter, waterjet, additive manufacturing, etc.)
-experience with mechanical and electro-mechanical systems (Arduino, sensors, motor controllers, LED lighting, and basic electronic prototyping, etc.)
-experience with Mac and Windows systems

Salary range: 40 hours/week, hourly rate based on experience
