I think this was the first Champion Series Gillette product in 2007. Unfortunately, the Gillette champions had some problems and Gillette had to pull all of their ads.
- Roger Federer behaved in an unsportsmanlike manner at the US Open (which he then lost). NOT a Champion.
- Thierry Henry, playing on the French national team, had a touched ball which set up the winning goal for Ireland to advance in the World Cup playoffs. NOT a Champion.
- Tiger Woods crashed his car outside his home which led to the exposure of his extramarital affairs with at least 13 women. NOT a Champion.
As someone commented amid all the news coverage, "You could say it was the perfect storm of knucklehead athletes, all screwing up at the same time, costing Gillette a fortune in negative publicity. Thus, the danger of using athletes, or entertainers, as endorsers for your brand."
Offered here is one complete, factory sealed kit with the athletes' photo on the bottom front of the package and Champions Tips Guide within. The Duracell battery is visible in the photos and shows some corrosion indicating that it is no longer good.
