Job Description:

The Producer of Special Projects (PSP) for The Mediated Matter Group will work closely with Prof. Neri Oxman to facilitate, coordinate manage and execute the production of previous and current commitments including art and design shows, books, and installations in the USA and around the globe. Additionally, the PSP will be communicating with colleagues, member companies and outside sponsors to produce the above. These may include but are not limited to communications with faculty, students, consultants, MIT departments, and outside constituencies to strategize, coordinate, manage, and oversee the variety of projects domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: acting as the primary point of contact for and liaison between creative/research/technical teams; strategizing logistical production and planning; generating and maintaining six to seven-figure budgets; working with MIT's legal department to draft agreements to formally engage production partners; organizing and supervising internal and external public and private events; helping to conceptualize project and funding proposals as well as to prepare project reports for funding entities; traveling to project locations for site visits and to manage exhibitions and installations.

Responsibilities:

Aguahoja Pavilion Main Court at the Cooper Hewitt Design Museum, NYC

Executive Producer for Neri Oxman and The Mediated Matter Group's current project,
Aguahoja, prepared for the Nature Triennale in NYC. Negotiates terms with organizations,
external collaborators, and exhibition team. Hires and maintains core team from within and
outside the MIT Media Lab. Administers project and rental funds paid to MIT. Promotes
show with prospective collaborators and creates proposal budgets.

Works of Neri Oxman and the Mediated Matter Group New York and San Francisco

Works with the Museum of Modern Art, New York and Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco
to design and develop a retrospective of works, showcasing the evolution of material
ecology. Organizes and produces an exhibition with chief partners, include the supervision of
project reconstruction and preparation, retrieve works from museums across the globe,
coordination with the Museum of Modern Art (NYC and SF), and supervision of MIT Media
Lab participants.

Nelson Mandela 100 Years Memorial for the Nelson Mandela Foundation, Cape Town, South Africa

Negotiates terms with organizations, external collaborators, and exhibition team. Hires and maintains core team from within and outside the MIT Media Lab. Administers project and
rental funds paid to MIT. Promotes show with prospective collaborators and creates proposal
budgets.

Organize new production of books in coordination with Pentagram

Produce new Material Ecology website

Assist in overseeing team functions, personnel operations, and project progression during Neri Oxman's sabbatical and any additional long or short-term absences

This is a one year appointment with possibility of extension based on funding availability and P.I.'s research
priorities.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required with post-Bachelors experience preferred; focus on management is a plus. Minimum of three years of experience observing and assisting with high-pressured and
exacting performance production in major international venues on projects that combine art and
technology, and have both academic and art-world aspects.

Excellent organizational, management, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage and work with
small and large groups. Ability to manage complex production, scheduling, and logistical aspects of projects. Ability to work effectively in a busy environment with diverse and high-profile teams,
including artistic and academic professionals, as well as individual and corporate sponsors. Ability to quickly adapt to MIT and its systems, protocols and procedures a plus. Occasional travel required.
