Bottom Bracket Serial Number Info from what I've been told??, and researched at http://www.vintage-trek.com/SerialNumbers.htm#1980
1978 TX900. The "J" is for TX900.
Around 78, they dropped the TX and went to 700, 900 etc. At that time 900 signified
Columbus tubing, 700 Reynolds. The "3" is the size, a 22.5 " Top tube should be 56 cm.
The "G" is the month of production, July. The "8" is for 1978.
Hand Brazed in Waterloo Wisconsin, purchased at R&B Cycles Wilmette IL in 1981 for $550 frame only. Frame is 40 years old and has a few touch up spots but looks great and rides like silk, so smooth.
