Merchant Sea Captain's Liquor Chest, Circa 1800, Mahogany w Inlay, Brass, Ivory. Merchant marine captain's liquor chest 1790-1810. Mahogany with inlay stringing. Original period bass handles. Ivory escutcheon. Spun knob and corner feet were likely added in the 19th century. Original surface with nice patina. Fitted interior appears to be pine which suggests it's American. Provenance: found in Plymouth Mass, and was inherited through a family member who was a Maine antique dealer.
