Do you have a natural willingness to dive in, solve problems, and get things done? Are you a strong SQL developer? If so, then you may be just the person we need to work as part of a small team of developers, business analysts, and business owners to develop, implement, support, and troubleshoot Commonwealth’s OLTP databases and applications.
Our tight-knit Development team builds and maintains a large private website, COMMunity Link®, which helps more than 2,000 small business owners manage their daily lives. It is built primarily using Microsoft technologies, including .NET and SQL Server. We also have a public-facing site and mobile versions of our tools. Our development approach has always been Agile and are looking for team members to help us continue to evolve and move our technology and data platform forward.
Building the schema, data dictionaries, and SQL code behind our complex suite of web-based applications
Participating in database architectural review and design discussions
Creating workflows and transformations with SQL Server Integration Services
Ensuring that data is stored efficiently and can be retrieved quickly (We maintain numerous databases and servers that integrate as an ecosystem to serve our clients’ needs.)
Troubleshooting and tuning complex SQL statements and making recommendations on indexing strategies
Analyzing complex data requirements
Developing and modifying procedures to solve complex database design problems, including performance, scalability, security, and integration issues
Working on a variety of projects and systems, from big to small and complex to simple
Collaborating with a dynamic team of web developers, business analysts, and product owners to build the best applications in the financial industry
Performing code reviews, learning from your peers, and sharing your knowledge with them in a positive, friendly way
Contributing to end-to-end application development
5–10+ years of SQL server database development experience
A solid understanding of relational modeling concepts
Ability to write, troubleshoot, and performance-tune stored procedures and ad hoc scripts
Proficiency in the following scripting/languages: T-SQL, C#, SSMS, SSIS, and SSRS
Familiarity with database task automation to support CI/CD
Able to communicate technical topics across audiences from varying levels of technical understanding
Experience with Azure SQL and services, BI data analytics, and visualization tools a plus
Experience working with ORMs and domain-driven design a plus
Experience in the financial sector a plus
Comfortable working in a collaborative team environment using Agile methodologies
