Christ Church, an historic Episcopal parish in Waltham, Massachusetts, seeks a part-time Office Administrator. This role is central to the work of our ministry and has responsibilities for both the internal workings of the parish and external representation to a variety of parishioners, vendors and tenants.
The Office Administrator works twenty hours weekly during normal business hours; scheduling of this time can be flexible around the needs of the candidate. The Office Administrator reports to the parish priest and serves as a principal member of the staff.
Using Microsoft Publisher and occasionally Word, Excel or graphics software, produce a weekly 4-page booklet and other materials for Sunday worship
Serving as the informational hub of the parish, maintaining accurate records regarding parish membership, contact information, prayer lists, etc.
Serving as a first representative and principal point of contact between the parish and tenants, renters, vendors, and visitors
Coordinating the use of physical plant by occasional renters and members of the parish
Ensuring the confidential treatment of pastoral information
Some accounts payable and data entry, under the guidance of the Parish Treasurer
Answering phones and directing messages
Front door ministry distributing food cards to those who inquire
Maintaining and ordering office and coffee hour supplies
At least one year of experience in an administrative or business professional role
Proven skills in all Microsoft Office applications, including Publisher
Proven skills in the use of Google docs and Google groups
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and still maintain lines of authority and collaboration
Friendly, courteous and detail-oriented
Experience working in a church, social service, or non-profit setting
Familiarity with Quickbooks and Mailchimp
Knowledge of WordPress a plus
The candidate selected for this position will be asked to submit to a criminal offender records (CORI) check and be paid to take an online safety course.
