I ran this ad a few weeks ago and it was flagged in an hour, so I'm trying again. Not sure why!
We're still having sessions. I still have a guitarist, bassist and a drummer on board and we've added a keyboardist. We're still meeting on Monday evenings!! So we're still looking for a sax and/or flute player. We're trying out a singer, if she's still down next Monday (12/8). I should also mention, our bassist is a "snowbird" headed to Florida after the holidays, (hate to lose him, he's the best of us!) so if there are any interested bassists, please contact us for the future.
Mature beginner jazz guitarist looking for others to study and get better at jazz. I'm looking for drums and bass, of course, and a pianist/keyboardist, sax/flute, even another guitarist. If you are an intermediate jazz player, but still looking to jam, you should be prepared "to mentor". We'd be playing songs from the Real Book, and some straight up jamming/improvisation. I have a practice studio in Norwood equipped with drums, a PA, bass amp and a decent keyboard (Yamaha, I think it's an M08) workstation with an 88-key weighted keyboard. I'm pretty good at comping the chords and improvising, but not so good at reading the melody, so it would be good to have a good "music reader" on board. I'm not concerned about age, sex, etc. but I do ask that you be a responsible "adult" with a sense of humor.
About me, I'm an older dude who's been playing rock and blues for many years. I would be considered a modal, progressive jam rocker in the vein of Hendrix, Santana, Jeff Beck, Gilmore, Allman Bros, Zappa, Garcia, Trey, etc. but I'm not a dinosaur, I also play 80's style metal and new wave, dig Rush and Tool, played pretty much anything since the Beatles (yes, I'm that old, lol!!). I'm also a pretty good straight up blues player. I'm a jazz/rock fusion fan but never really found the players that play on that level. I even tried my shot in Los Angeles for a few years in my late 20's/early 30's, but I didn't "get lucky"! I have a psychedelic, improv rock band called As Seen From Space, but we practice in a shared studio in Arlington (long story) so I'm not using my Norwood studio for much more than storage these days.
So if this interests you, I can be contacted at this email. Thanks for checking this out. Hope to hear from you.
