The project: Forming a group of amateur musicians who are into acoustic music based mostly on traditional styles (bluegrass, early country, Appalachian, etc.) or more modern versions (Americana, singer/songwriter). We might also play acoustic covers of rock or other (Little Feat, Led Zep, Smokey Robinson…). We meet in a studio in Bedford MA.
Regular participants so far are banjo/singer and guitar/recording.
Seeking: singers (especially female), fiddle, mando(s), bass, keys, slide/dobro and also pipes/flutes, percussion, accordion or other if you think it might fit. (Check out Youtube for “Transatlantic Sessions 5”). While such virtuosity is not expected, the ability to develop a part and hang tight with a group is needed.
After some jamming exploration of ideas, ideally we select some tunes, develop parts in arrangements and polish the tunes to make recordings that we could share and be proud of. Based on instruments and backgrounds, it seems that the resulting “style” is likely to be in the zone of traditional-Americana-unplugged. So songwriters liking those styles are also welcome.
While focused more on playing together - If some or all are inclined, gigs of some type may result. Videos may be possible if someone with good video production skills is available.
