Sold in 100% Original - Untouched - As Has Survived Condition. It is Still Structurally Strong and Functional. It has Been Used Extensively Over the Years back on the ships as it has about 25 destination stickers. Current Condition is wonderful with one small tear. This was a wealthy person that went on many boat trips Along the Way. This came from an estate in Weston Massachusetts it is Wonderful Authentic Rustic Look that Cannot be Duplicated and You will want to Display it Just Like it is.
This Really is a Great Looking and Quite Rare Authentic Antique Louis Vuitton Ladies Traveling Hat Trunk. Circa Approx. Late 19th Century. It Has a 2 Lift Out Inner Louis Vuitton Ribbon Style "Basket" and a top hat insert That Would Have Been Intended to be Filled With Hats - Shoes Etc. To Provide Protection During Travel. It Comes From the Original "DAMIER" - Checker Style Canvas Period That was First Introduced by Louis Vuitton in 1889. The Original Paper Label on the Interior Indicates Serial Number 150945 and Reads as Follows - PARIS I. RUE SCRIBE - LOUIS VUITTON 149 NEW BOND STREET W. LONDON. It has Steel and Some Cast Iron Exterior Hardware Etc. The Back Plates on the 2 Side Swing Handles are EMBOSSED L.V. Please ALSO NOTE That The Top - Lid and Perimeter Have Numerous SOLID BRASS DOME TOP TACKS - Each One Being EMBOSSED LOUIS VUITTON. It Still Retains its Original clasp Mechanism but It COMES WITH NO KEY. It is a Great - Versatile Size - Could be Used as an End Table Etc.
