Thurman Smith was an American artist known for his watercolor landscapes. This print depicts the Boston skyline from the Charles River, and features sailboats in the Charles dancing along the Esplanade in the foreground, and captures the historic Beacon Hill and Back Bay, with the distinctive Custom House Tower, the gold dome of the Massachusetts State House, the Parker House hotel and State Street Bank buildings in the background.
