The two mid-century wood panels are mixed media artworks of traditional Japanese screen paintings known as byobu. The left panel features large, white, spherical flowers resembling hydrangeas or chrysanthemums with broad leaves, while the right panel displays a variety of other flowers and grasses, both with clear signs of mineral pigments, gofun, and gold leaf.
The pieces incorporate elements typical of Japanese painting styles of the Rinpa school, which often feature bold, stylized natural motifs (flowers, plants) against a rich, often gilded background, providing a luminous and traditional backdrop. The panels use which is then mounted on a frame.
