Yes, ALL dogs (any size) are welcome, as are cats and other pets.
The house has two floors:
The downstairs lay-out is as follows: Sunlit, open-concept, living room and dining room with new vinyl flooring (to be installed before 12/15). The large kitchen has a new refrigerator, stainless steel stove/oven, lots of counter space and lots of cabinets. The tiled bathroom has a pedestal sink, toilet and shower stall.
The stairs to and from the second floor are wood. There is a skylight in the stairwell providing even more sunlight.
The upstairs lay-out is as follows: To the left off of the hallway is the master bedroom. It has a dormered ceiling, skylight, wall-to-wall carpeting, two windows and a medium-sized closet.
To the right off the hallway is a room which most have used for office space, but could double as a den, game room, or small third bedroom. This space will have new carpeting before 12/15.
Past this room is a bedroom with built-in drawers, an easily-accessible closet, new carpeting (before 12/15) and two windows overlooking the backyard
The upstairs hallway ends in a walk-in closet.
The large bathroom on the right at the end of the hallway. The bath contains ample cabinetry, a toilet, and a large antique claw-footed bathtub.
The shared basement has a lot of storage space, approximately 20 ft. by 30 ft. There are washer and dryer (gas) hook-ups if you should choose to bring your own machines.
The fenced-in backyard, with a 4-foot-high fence, has a brick patio and large tree with plenty of room for you and your pets to run around. Provided your pets are not fence-jumpers, you can let them out unleased, i.e., no need to walk the dog several times a day.
The adjoining townhouse apartment shares one wall and is well-insulated for noise control.
There are two off-street parking spaces for your use.
The neighborhood itself is quiet. The people are friendly, but not nosy.
The town park, with fields and a large play structure, is a five-minute walk.
Ayer center -- with the Town Hall, the post office, boutique retail shops and both a sushi and Italian restaurants -- is also a five-minute walk.
The MBTA commuter rail (Fitchburg - South Acton line) is a three-minute walk from the front door. The ride into Cambridge is just under an hour; the ride into North Station, just over an hour.
Ayer is close to Littleton, Harvard, Acton, Concord, Westford, Groton, Devens, and Shirley.
The house is rented as a monthly-tenancy, some call it a "tenancy-at-will." While there is no long-term lease to sign, we will sign a month-to-month rental agreement with the new tenants. We require a security deposit in the amount of $2,500 and first month's rent. We do not require last month's rent. Therefore, you would be expected to pay a total of $5,000 to move in, half of which will be held in escrow.
You are responsible for heat (gas, which runs approximately $15 in the summer and $70 in the winter), electric (Keyspan, which runs approximately $20 in the summer without an air conditioner and $40 with an air conditioner, and $50 in the winter), trash removal, and any other utilities. We pay for your water/sewer usage.
The property is currently listed for sale, and we are confident (based on the slow market) that it will not sell by Saturday (12/6) when the listing expires. Until then, you can go to the listing to see photos (1-29 are of this unit and the outside of the house)
