Opportunity to lead the IT side of a well established, rapidly growing start up. You will be based in Cranston, RI and be responsible for all network and computer systems operations that are at the core of our services to hundreds of household name companies like P&G, Kraft, Pepsi, and so forth.  Please see www.retailsolutions.com.  We currently have operations at a co-location site in Waltham, Ma and have three US offices plus a development and operations center in China. We anticipate expanding our services to Europe in the near term. We are looking for a highly motivated, strongly hands-on, technically creative individual that can motive and lead small distributed teams of dedicated professionals. As we transition in size, this role is a combination of hands-on technical design and leadership combined with developing the people in technical teams and planning our growth.<br>
Our technology spans Microsoft, SQL Server,  SharePoint, Oracle, Redhat, J2EE  and so forth. Required qualifications include:<br>
•	Degree in a scientific or technical field, preferably Computer Science.<br>
•	Comprehensive knowledge of network design, router configuration, firewall setup, and other computer security measures.<br>
•	Analytic strengths to compare and contrast economic and technical tradeoffs in system component and vendor selection.<br>
•	Comprehensive knowledge of the design and operations of Microsoft operational environments and best management practices.<br>
•	Experience with the operation and maintenance of large, mission critical databases.<br>
•	Professional history of increasing levels of responsibility in technically demanding roles.<br>
•	Development and management of geographically dispersed mission critical corporate networks.<br>
•	10+ years of relevant experience with strong hands-on knowledge of the best Internet oriented software and hardware practices.<br>

The position is based in Cranston, RI. Modest travel will be required to company headquarters and other operational sites. In this leadership position you will work widely across all groups to understand business priorities and hence technical and infrastructure priorities. You will report directly to the CTO.<br>

The Information Specialist acts as a liaison between Corporate Information Services and the Operations Center, building a positive and productive relationship with their customers by establishing trust and being responsive to their needs. By accurately representing those needs and requirements to appropriate support teams, the Information Specialist will establish themselves as an advocate for their customers.  Making the customer central in their thoughts and explicit in their actions, the successful candidate will establish the foundation for professional credibility by ensuring follow through on their commitments and deadlines.<br>

By providing quality support for both the information technology infrastructure and the end-user computing environment, the Information Specialist will further develop strong relationships within the Operation.  This includes, but is not limited to, technical support for employee PC hardware and software, end-user guidance in the use of desktop software tools, IT support for a variety of employee training initiatives, telephone system administration (Cisco voip), as well as local interface to 3rd party technology vendors and service providers.  There is also a limited amount of localized application/tool development specifically geared towards process efficiency in corporate locations. <br>

•	Knowledge in supporting a Windows based client computing environment<br>
•	Ability to install and configure laptop, desktop and server computers, printers, and other peripherals<br>
•	Broad range of telecommunications, network, and desktop computing knowledge<br>
•	Significant user support experience<br>
•	Solid analytical and problem solving abilities<br>
•	Well developed hardware troubleshooting skills in a managed computing environment (Active Directory)<br>
•	Ability to effectively work with corporate and/or international information technology staff to ensure a stable working environment in areas including, but not limited to, client/server computing infrastructure, telecommunication, network infrastructure, back-end servers and application support<br>
•	Ability to determine priorities, develop local strategies, procedures and work practices, and manage small scale localized projects<br>
•	Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision or in a team environment and an ability to balance conflicting priorities<br>
•	Well developed presentation skills in order to help facilitate and/or deliver information technology training programs<br>
•	Bachelor's degree in computer science or another technical discipline;  CompTIA A+  (or equivalent) certification, or appropriate industry experience.<br>
•	2+ years of experience in information technology or a related field<br>
